Fire crews were called to tackle a blaze in a Kirkcaldy flat in the early hours of Monday morning.
The alarm was raised shortly after 3am after neighbours reported a fire in a ground floor property in Alison Street, in the town’s west end.
Crews from Kirkcaldy and Methil were despatched to the scene, with firefighters finding the property to be empty following a search.
The owner, said locally to be a man living on his own, was not at the flat when The Courier visited on Monday morning, though one neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: “The folk in the flat upstairs were sitting in their car when the fire engines were there so I know they’re alright.
“The guy who lives there works a lot and keeps himself to himself.”
