A Fife groom almost saw his bride nicked rather than hitched when the wedding dress she had wrapped up in a duvet was mistaken for  a body bag.

Armed police swooped after a member of the public mistook Jordan Jack’s fiancée’s wedding dress for a dead body.

Beth Jack, now honeymooning with Jordan in Tanzania, had wrapped her gown in a duvet to protect it before she and her chief bridesmaid carried it out to the boot of her car of the eve of the big day.

Jordan, 28, originally from Dunfermline, later received a call from police to tell him that specialist firearms officers had raided a property next door to gain access to the couple’s Swindon home.

After the misunderstanding was explained, the pair’s wedding in Didcot went ahead as planned on Saturday, leaving them with a tale to tell for years to come.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called just after 5pm on July 27 to an initial report from a passer-by that two women had been seen loading what was believed to be a body into the boot of a vehicle in Queen Elizabeth Drive.

“Our inquiries established that the women were in fact loading a wedding dress into the vehicle.

“No arrests were made and no crimes committed.”
