Going with a bang: Dunfermline will be rocking for annual fireworks display

Dunfermline will be rocking this bonfire night.

On Saturday November 3 the town’s Glen will rock with the sounds of Nirvana, ACDC, Franz Ferdinand and Royal Blood during one of Scotland’s biggest free fireworks displays.

Organised by Dunfermline Delivers, this year’s theme, Dunfermline Rocks, will include tracks from some of the world’s best known rock through the ages.

Before the fireworks, Dunfermline’s ForeignFox, who recently played alongside Admiral Fallow at St Luke’s and the Winged Ox in Glasgow, will entertain the home crowd.

The entertainment starts at 6pm leading up to the fireworks which get under way at 7pm.

Chris Foote, events manager with Dunfermline Delivers, said: “We’re lucky to have such an iconic setting.

“Pittencrieff Park is one of the most beautiful parks in Scotland, plus the historic Dunfermline Abbey and the view to the Forth bridges provide a pretty special backdrop.”

He added: “Dunfermline Rocks is a brilliant theme. We hope everyone will enjoy the family friendly party atmosphere.”

A financial boost came from Fife Council.

City of Dunfermline area committee convener, Labour councillor Helen Law, said the local authority was proud to be contributing towards “one of the best and biggest” displays in Scotland which draws visitors from across the central belt.

“It’s great to see so many people coming into town,” she added.

Chris said there were lots of other events and restaurants offers in town on the day to coincide with the annual event, so the BIDs team hoped that families come “and make a day of it”.

“We had new measures in place last year to deal with the crowds and they worked well.

“We ask people to plan their trip in advance, arrive early and have a great time.

“Due to the large numbers in attendance, we are encouraging people to use public transport and the park and ride facilities where possible.”

The Kingsgate car park will be opening late until 8.30pm with an all day charge of £3.80.

Adverse weather can sometimes put events in doubt at this time of the year and Kingdom FM will be giving updates on that day in the case of high winds.

Regular updates will be posted on Dunfermline Delivers’ Facebook page.
