The 22-year-old was said to have been attacked in Doubledykes Road at around 1.15am. An area around Kinburn playpark was cordoned off and police officers remained at the scene until Thursday afternoon. The area is close to the town’s bus station and St Andrews University’s North Haugh complex. Students reported that police had turned them away from a route to their halls of residence which runs by St Andrews Museum, in Kinburn Park. There was alarm in the community at news of the incident. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police in Fife are investigating following a report of an assault on a 22-year-old-woman in St Andrews. “The incident happened around 1.15 am in the Doubledykes Road area of the town on Thursday, November 8. “Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.”
