
A police probe into reports of a man attempting to lure a teenage boy into his car in Glenrothes have been declared as a false alarm.
Officers were called following the alleged incident which happened at around 6pm on November 30 near the Kingdom Shopping Centre.
Concerned onlookers reported seeing a man in his vehicle attempting to engage a 13-year-old boy in conversation.
Amid fears that the individual was attempting to abduct the teenager, police were contacted and an investigation launched.
Posts about the alleged incident were also widely shared on social media.

But Police Scotland have now confirmed that no crime has been committed.
A spokeswoman said: “Police in Fife received a report of suspicious behaviour involving a man in a car around 6pm on Friday 30 November near the Kingdom Centre in Glenrothes.
“Inquiries were carried out and it has been established that it was a false alarm with good intent.
“Officers would like to reassure the local community that no crime has been committed.”
