Pair sought after man stabbed in the neck during attempted murder in Fife

A man has been left in a serious condition after being stabbed in the neck during an attempted murder in Fife.

Emergency services were called to an address on Fod Street in Dunfermline at around 7.30pm on Monday.

The 36-year-old man, who has not been named, was found to have sustained a serious neck injury.

He was rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment. He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Sergeant Alexander Brydon said: “This was a vicious attack which has left the victim seriously harmed.

“Thankfully he was quickly attended to, however the consequences of this attack could have been much more serious.

“We are eager to trace the two men involved as soon as possible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the Fod Street area on the evening of Monday, April 1 and saw anything suspicious to come forward at their earliest convenience.”

Police have confirmed they are treating the incident as an attempted murder.

Two men spotted in the area on Monday evening are being sought.

A police cordon around the property remained in place on Tuesday morning and several wooden sheds at the back of the property were also sealed off.

Locals reported seeing a “heavy” emergency services presence in the area throughout the night including forensic officers.

Earlier a Police Scotland spokesman said:  “Police in Fife are investigating following an attempted murder at an address in Fod Street, Halbeath, Dunfermline.

“The incident happened around 7.30pm on Monday, April 1.

“A 36-year-old man sustained a serious neck injury and was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.  He remains there in a serious but stable condition.

“Inquiries are currently ongoing.”
