Concern grows for missing 30-year-old woman as full-scale Kirkcaldy search continues

Concern is growing for a 30-year-old woman reported missing in Kirkcaldy.

Emergency services spent much of Wednesday morning scouring the town’s coastline the search for Nicola O’Hara, last seen at 6pm on Tuesday.

A coastguard helicopter was drafted in from Prestwick and coastguard rescue teams from Leven, Kinghorn and South Queensferry were involved in the hunt at Seafield Beach, close to Ms O’Hara’s home.

The RNLI lifeboat from Kinghorn was also called out and Burntisland lifeguards were on the scene.

Police said Ms O’Hara’s family were becoming increasingly concerned and urged anyone with information to come forward immediately.

Kirkcaldy…. appears to be doing a search

Inspector Gordon Anderson, from Kirkcaldy police station, said: “Nicola’s family have not seen or heard from her since Tuesday evening and are growing increasingly worried for her welfare and, as such, we are keen to locate her as soon as possible to ensure she is safe.

“In addition to police resources, our inquiry is being supported by colleagues from the coastguard and we are extremely grateful for their assistance.”

Ms O’Hara is described as being white, 5ft 10in and of slim build.

She has long brown hear and was last seen wearing a blue jacket, dark trousers and purple trainers.

She speaks with an American accent.

Mr Anderson added: “Anyone who believes they have seen Nicola since 6pm on Tuesday, or who has information that can assist our investigation, should contact police immediately.”
