Police are investigating a spate of break-ins to homes in and around Broughty Ferry over the New Year period.
Most of the six incidents, which took place between December 29 and January 3, are being linked by police.
The first incident occurred in West Ferry on December 30 where a house on Albert Road was broken into sometime between 9.20pm and 11.45pm.
The homeowners do not believe anything was taken.
Secondly, a man was disturbed in a garden in Beaumont Crescent about 10.25pm on the same night, where, according to witnesses, it was obvious he was there intending to break in.
He is described as white, about 6ft tall and slim build, wearing a dark jacket or hoody.
Thirdly, again on December 30, a man was disturbed trying to break in to a property in Strathern Road about 11:40pm.
The man matches the description of the person seen earlier in Beaumont Crescent.
Police have also been informed of break-ins to two properties in Duntrune Terrace, one sometime between December 29 to January 1, and the other sometime before 1.50pm on January 2.
In all of the instances where a break-in has been attempted or achieved, a rear window has been forced open or broken.
It comes as a householder managed to scare off an intruder after the crook smashed a patio window in nearby Monifieth in the early hours of Friday January 3.
This is the only incident which is not believed to be linked to the others.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We are putting dedicated high-visibility patrols into this area in the late evenings.
“We would also like to ask residents of the West Ferry / Strathern / Claypotts area to ensure that all windows and doors are properly secured, and if you are going to be out for the evening, please leave a light on or ensure any security devices you have are in working order and switched on.
“If you have any information about any of these incidents that could help us, particularly if you have private CCTV in these areas or have dashcam footage of someone matching the above description acting suspiciously in the area, please call 101 or speak with any police officer.
