Almost £19 million of support has now been delivered to more than 1,650 Dundee businesses under the Scottish Government’s coronavirus help scheme.
Grant payments are being made to aid small businesses and hospitality, leisure and retail businesses with properties with a rateable value between £18,001 and £51,000.
Dundee City Council leader John Alexander said: “This money is a lifeline to many small businesses in Dundee and as applications come in we are processing them as quickly as we can.
“This money can make the difference between a local firm or small enterprise staying afloat or being driven under.
“There may still be some businesses in the city who are waiting for their application to be processed and I would ask for patience and reassure them that we will be in touch as soon as possible to let them know the outcome of their application.”
The first of the 1,654 grants of £10,000 to small business and £25,000 to hospitality, leisure and retail businesses were paid at the start of April.
Meanwhile, the authority has also issued a reminder to city residents to be wary of doorstep scammers amidst reports of crooks operating in the wider area.
They include cold callers claiming to be council workers and offering to disinfect doorbells and driveways.
