Dundee is gearing up for the return of one of the city’s most popular events.
A celebration of all things horticultural and culinary, the Dundee Flower and Food Festival will be welcomed back to Camperdown Park from Friday August 31 to Sunday September 2 – celebrating its 30th year being held at the popular beauty spot.
While showcasing flowers and food, the well-loved event will also feature live entertainment, cookery and gardening demonstrations, competitions, family fun and a craft fair.
Some 20,000 visitors are expected across the weekend.
Here’s exactly what to expect from this year’s festival…
Big name guests
Winner of 2016’s Masterchef: The Professionals Gary Maclean will lead a food festival demonstration on Friday.
This year’s celebrity gardener will be BBC One Show presenter and gardener Christine Walkden, who will be at the event on both the Saturday and Sunday.
Former JLS singer, TV presenter and farmer JB Gill will also be at the festival on the Saturday.
We're absolutely thrilled to have the one and only JB Gillat this year's Festival – and a big thank you for this wee video ahead of him arriving in Dundee! The 30 year old rose to fame as a member of JLS – one of the biggest boy bands selling 10m+ records over 5 years and chalking up 5 number 1 singles! Then – four years ago – he set up a farm in Kent where he lives with his wife, Chloe, their two-year-old son and their brand new baby daughter. CONGRATULATIONS! Their smallholding successfully produces award-winning KellyBronze turkeys and free-range Tamworth pork. Now an established member of the farming community, JB uses his success to highlight his passion to educate children about the origins of their food. Just perfect in Scotland's Year of Young People 2018 and also ideal as we help to launch the #ScotFoodGoals campaign being run by Eat Scottish for Scotland's Food Fortnight. JB is the lead presenter on CBeebies BAFTA-nominated series, ‘Down On The Farm’ and he regularly presents on both BBC Countryfile Live and BBC Springwatch. We're very much looking forward to giving him a great big Dundee welcome at Camperdown Country Park.
