Organisers of the third Butterfly Ball say they still intend the event to go ahead in Fife later this year in support of Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).
The team hope to raise over £7,000 at the gathering which is due to take place in the newly refurbished Robert Burns Ballroom at Fairmont St Andrews on Saturday September 26.
The event was due to be held on May 2 but has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Guests will enjoy bubbles on arrival followed by a three-course dinner with entertainment provided by popular five-piece Cupar band Scoonie Brae and the Cantaré Children’s Choir.
There will be also be a silent auction plus a variety of surprises taking place throughout the evening.
The event is run by Kaleidoscope for CHAS which was set up in 2017 by Dawn Anderson from Strathmiglo with help from her husband Tom and other family members.
It is supported by Tom’s company, Thornton and Lowe, and Scott’s Ladieswear in Cupar where Dawn works part time.
Photography on the evening will again be provided free of charge by Emma Murrills of EBM Photography in Cupar.
As well as the ball the Kaleidoscope group host other fundraising events for the charity throughout the year including race nights, psychic evenings and ladies’ events.
The last two Butterfly Balls have raised £11,500 in total and Dawn said she was keen to raise a further £7,000 this year to hit the £18,000 mark.
Dawn said: “The Butterfly Ball is a fabulous fun event in a beautiful setting and for such a fantastic cause.
“As a family we are committed to helping CHAS meet its goal of reaching every family in Scotland and are very grateful to all individuals and businesses who support the Butterfly Ball each year.”
Laura Campbell, senior community fundraiser for CHAS, said: “We rely on the generosity of supporters like Dawn and the other members of Kaleidoscope for CHAS to raise much needed funds to help us with our mission of reaching every single baby, child and young person in Scotland with a life-shortening condition.
“We currently support over 450 families through our hospices, expanding hospital services and growing CHAS at Home Teams.
“We are committed to making sure that no matter how little time families have together, it is filled with as much happiness and fun as possible. But for every family we help, there is another that is struggling alone, and to be able to reach them all we simply need to raise more money.”
Tickets for the Butterfly Ball cost £75 per person and bookings can be made individually or for tables of eight or 10 guests.
