Police are appealing for help in tracing two boys seen riding motorcycles dangerously in Kirkcaldy.

The youths were spotted riding the unregistered vehicles on the road and footpath at Dunnikier Way, and within the playground at Kirkcaldy High School between 1.10pm and 1.20pm on Thursday.

One of the boys is described as mid to late teens and wearing a multi-coloured helmet with matching gloves, blue Adidas hooded top with white stripes down the sleeves, blue Adidas tracksuit bottoms with white stripes down the legs and grey Adidas trainers with white stripes.

He was riding a blue and white Yamaha motorcycle with 100 written on it. It had a blue seat with Yamaha written in white.

The second youngster is also described as being in his mid to late teens, wearing a white helmet, blue jacket, grey jogging bottoms and dark footwear.

He was riding a black and white motorbike.

The activity comes just days after police in the town launched the second year of Operation Fireblade, an initiative to tackle antisocial and illegal use of motorbikes by youths.

Constable Steven Black, of Kirkcaldy Police Station, said: “This was highly irresponsible and although it might’ve seemed like a bit of fun at the time, someone could’ve been hurt and this behaviour won’t be tolerated in our community.

“Our activity around this is part of Operation Fireblade, where we are targeting the illegal use of motorbikes and quad bikes.

“If anyone recognises the description of these boys, or perhaps saw them around the time of the incident in a nearby area, please contact us.”

Anybody with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
