A man has been arrested after a cannabis farm was discovered in Levenmouth.

The 35-year-old has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal after cannabis plants worth an estimated £10,500 were discovered at an address in Diadem Place in Buckhaven.

He was arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Acting on intelligence, officers carried out a search of the property on Tuesday.

The raid was part of the ongoing action plan Dylan, aimed at addressing concerns raised by local residents.

Levenmouth police said it demonstrated their commitment to tackling drugs offences.

And Sergeant Craig Fyall of Levenmouth Police Station said cannabis cultivations posed a significant fire risk.

He said: “The public do not want drugs or drug dealers in their communities and we have a dedicated action plan to tackle drug offences and bring offenders to justice.

“We will continue to act on information and  provide confidence to the public that we are focused  on their concerns.

“There is also a safety issue involved in cultivating cannabis, as the equipment used is often basic and generates a lot of heat through poor electrical installation. This can result in a serious fire risk.

“It is important that we address this aspect from a criminal and also a public safety perspective.

“If you have information on ongoing drug crime in your area then please contact us via 101 or make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
