The father of missing Allan Bryant Jr has thanked well-wishers as the police search of a Glenrothes house continues.

Forensic officers have been at a property in the town’s Barnton Place since June 14 as part of the investigation into Mr Bryant’s disappearance more than three years ago.

As he awaits any developments, Mr Bryant’s father, Allan Sr, said support from members of the public is helping the family through a particularly tough time.

“People have been great,” he said. “We’ve been getting loads of messages on Facebook and it really means a lot.

“One friend who I haven’t seen for 30 years turned up with a bouquet of flowers which was just fantastic.

“I can’t thank people enough for their support.”

Allan Jr was 23 when he disappeared after a night out with friends on November 3 2013.

He had been at Styx Nightclub on Caskieberran Road, with CCTV footage showing him leaving the venue in the early hours of the morning.

However, there remains no trace of Allan, who would now be 27, with his father having stated on several occasions his belief that his son is dead.

Police have been searching the terraced property in Barnton Place, in the town’s Newcastle area, for almost three weeks following fresh information supplied by the public.

Mr Bryant has himself been charged with a breach of the peace following an altercation in the street last week, and he admits that as police continue their work, emotions are running high.

“Somebody knows what happened that night,” he added.

“It just takes one of them to come forward.
“It has been a nightmare.

“We’re still waiting for information.

“Right now we’re just trying to function as a family (but) no matter what happens with the search the fight will continue.”

Police confirmed on Tuesday that officers were continuing to work at the property but were unable to state when this might conclude.
