Police have renewed an appeal to trace two armed robbers 18 months after raiding a Kirkcaldy bank.
Investigators say they continue to pursue the duo, who made off on mountain bikes after targeting the branch of TSB in the town’s Templehall area.
The pair escaped with more than £11,000 in cash and have continued to elude the authorities, despite national and international efforts to trace them.
A year and a half after the daring raid, the man leading the investigation says that police have not given up on tracing the two criminals.
Detective Inspector Paul Dick of Kirkcaldy CID said: “We continue to make active inquiries into this robbery and remain extremely grateful for the cooperation of the local community.
“We will act on any information received from the public as we work to bring those responsible for this crime to justice.
“Anyone who has not yet spoken to officers and may have seen the men in the area of Dunearn Drive on January 29 2016, or who has information on their identities, is asked to contact Kirkcaldy CID as soon as possible.”
The duo entered the branch of TSB before threatening staff and making off with the five-figure sum of money on mountain bikes.
Detectives previously released CCTV images and footage to the public which shows the two suspects, however, 18 months later officers admit that they are still awaiting a breakthrough in the case.
The police launched a new appeal for information earlier this year, however, despite receiving several calls from members of the public, there remains no progress.
The first suspect is described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, with dark stubble on his face.
He was wearing a dark-coloured baseball cap and dark-coloured clothing.
The second man is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, around 30 years old, of medium build and with stubble.
He wore a dark-coloured baseball cap, a dark blue/grey hooded top and dark-coloured trainers.
He was also wearing dark blue jogging bottoms with a distinctive white motif that read “Mordex”, a Polish bodybuilding brand, partially down one leg.
The first man was seen riding a mountain bike and the second a grey and red mountain bike on Alford Avenue before the incident, and in the area of Cawdor Crescent a short time after the incident.
Both were also seen carrying green carrier bags.
