A former pupil who was allegedly sexually abused by his teacher led police to a flat where he claims he was preyed upon 16 years earlier.

The man said he was abused as a 10 year-old by Robert Taylor in a flat in Kirkcaldy and in a vehicle.

He is one of three former pupils of a Fife school who have accused Taylor, 70, of abusing them.

The second day of his trial at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard from a detective involved in an investigation into the school.

She told how the man, now 30, directed them to Winifred Crescent where Taylor used to live.

Taylor, of Musselburgh Road, Dalkeith, denies offences against two boys and a girl between 1998 and 2003.

He is accused of lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards the children on various occasions while they were aged 11 to 15.

He is also accused of assaulting and indecently assaulting the other boy.

Detective Constable Marie Annan told the court she set off from a police station in Edinburgh with the alleged victim to retrace the journey he said he took with Taylor from the school to Kirkcaldy.

The alleged victim recognised various landmarks as he directed her past the Beveridge Park up Bennochy Road and Forth Park Drive and into Winifred Street and Winifred Crescent, she said.

She told the court: “That’s when he said these are the flats that are most like them.”

The detective said she was aware of Taylor’s former home address before the journey, which was intended to establish the locus of the alleged crime, but did not disclose this or discuss what the flat looked like with the man beforehand.

She has yet to be cross examined by Taylor’s solicitor.

The man’s partner also gave evidence on the second day of his trial on Wednesday, saying he was “upset, upset and angry” when he told her what had allegedly happened to him at Taylor’s hands.

She said: “I didn’t know what had happened to him in the past then I was speechless when he told me.”

The trial before a jury and Sheriff James Williamson continues.

It previously heard claims Taylor had put his hands inside a girl’s blouse and up her skirt as he taught her at a computer and had “flicked” the other boy’s private parts with force, spat on him and slammed a door on his arm.

The court also heard former pupils were contacted by police as they investigated the school.
