Kilgraston school for girls has executed a flawless ‘Mannequin Challenge’ involving a full orchestra, choir and crowd at Perth concert hall.
The pupils undertook the viral challenge – wherein typically large groups of people stand entirely still while a camera hovers over proceedings – as part of their festive celebration.
“It was the idea of our new Director of Music, Mr Jason McAuley, who started at Kilgraston this year,” said a representative for the school.
“It was his first Christmas Concert, and the Mannequin Challenge was a last minute decision three days before the event. The girls rehearsed their poses on the morning of the show.”
The real test would be whether the public could follow suit and nail it in one take, without blinking.
“On the night, Jason briefed the audience that at the end of the second verse of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, we would all become mannequins, a signal would then be made to start the third verse.”
“In total over 230 girls were on stage taking part in the Mannequin Challenge but the whole audience – nearly 1000 people – took part.
“We have had a huge response from the video from around the world, with over 26000 views and it has featured on over 70,000 Facebook pages. Lots of positive feedback from parents, pupils, staff, former pupils and community.”
Everyone from First Lady Michelle Obama and Beatles legend Paul McCartney to your very own Courier have taken up the challenge since it first emerged in October.
