A 93-year-old woman came face-to-face with an intruder at her home in Perth.
The would-be robber clambered through the pensioner’s window at her property in Campsie Road.
He fled empty handed when he found the woman was awake, police said.
It happened at around 1am on Thursday.
The intruder is described as white, in his early 20s and around 5ft 9in tall. He is slim, with dark hair and was said to be “smartly dressed in dark clothing”.
It is believed that he ran off towards Tweedsmuir Road.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman has urged anyone with information to call 101 or freephone Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
