New boy Aidan Nesbitt believes his partnership with fellow-striker Pavol Safranko can develop into one that gets the goals to fire Dundee United back to the Premiership.

The pair got 45 minutes against Partick Thistle last weekend following 21-year-old Nesbitt’s arrival from MK Dons.

That, and the work they’ve put in on the training ground, has shown him they can click as a front two for the Tangerines in the coming weeks and months.

“I had only trained with him a couple of times and played 45 minutes with him on Saturday but he certainly gets himself about,” said Nesbitt.

“He does that in a way that I don’t think I have really seen before.

“He is not the biggest but he runs all day and wins every ball.

“He set me up for a chance on Saturday and definitely building up a partnership with Pavol is something I want to work on.”

And after their spell together in England, the former Celtic kid is also more than happy to be back working with Tannadice boss Robbie Neilson.

“I worked with him before and really enjoyed it.

“I spoke to him when I left MK and I was looking forward to working with him again.

“He drives standards at you and makes you enjoy coming in and working hard. Every day is hard and there is no slacking.

“You don’t get any chance to slack off and I enjoy working in that environment.”

Fans are reminded the Scottish Cup clash at Montrose next Saturday is all-ticket. Some briefs for both the stand and terracing remain on sale from £20/18 for adults and £10/9 for concessions.
