Ryan Jack has revealed how negativity was banished from the Scotland camp as they tried to end their qualifying campaign on a high note.
Manager Steve Clarke insisted the talk would all be upbeat going into the final two Euro 2020 qualifiers against Cyprus and Kazakhstan.
That was despite a group comprising captain Andy Robertson, Scott McTominay, Ryan Fraser and Liam Cooper withdrawing from Clarke’s original squad.
Also, tickets for the match against the Kazakhs didn’t sell well, with only 19,515 tunring up at Hampden on Tuesday night.
The mind games worked well, with the Scots going on to win 2-1 and 3-1 respectively.
Jack said: “Since I have come along, the manager has said he wants positivity.
“He wants everyone wanting to be here to play for Scotland.
“He doesn’t want any negativity and this week that is how it has been,” added the Rangers midfielder.
“We have managed to end the campaign in a good way with three wins in three games (the other result was against San Marino) and that takes us into the play-offs.
“We will all go back to our clubs and be looking to play well, stay in the manager’s thoughts and, I’m sure, come March everyone will be involved.”
