Andy Jackson returns to the Brechin squad for Morton match

Andy Jackson.
Andy Jackson.

Darren Dods is hoping that the return of Andy Jackson will help spark an up-turn in the Glebe Park side’s fortunes.

The influential forward is a few weeks away from starting a match but he’ll be on the bench at Morton this afternoon.

And a supersub performance wouldn’t go amiss.

Dods reported: “He started training this week.

“He’s back in the squad and will be on the bench. We’ve not had him available since August 23.

“It will take about three or four weeks to build up his match fitness but he completed a full session last night and he hasn’t lost his skill and touch.

“If we’re still in the game with 10 or 15 minutes to go he could be an option to bring on and make a difference.”

Willie Dyer has a 50-50 chance of playing after injuring his back against Inverness Caley Thistle in midweek.

Dods is hoping that the 1-1 draw with Dundee United seven days ago will be the template for today’s game rather than the 4-0 defeat on Tuesday night.

“We drove up there in the sleet, rain and dark and some of the boys had been working in the morning,” he said. “We were 2-0 down after 10 minutes, which didn’t really give us a chance.

“Inverness definitely seem to be a bogey side for us, a bit like Livingston last season.

“We haven’t suffered many heavy defeats and hopefully we’ll be back to our best for Morton tomorrow.”
