Any type of East Fife win would do Darren Young this time

Darren Young.

East Fife manager Darren Young would of course welcome a repeat of the 6-1 victory they enjoyed over today’s opponents Airdrie earlier in the season.

However, he would gladly settle for any kind of success.

A home win would push the Fifers further away from the Diamonds and towards a potential promotion play-off spot.

Young said: “Our last home match with Airdrie was a tremendous afternoon which actually started out pretty poorly as we lost a goal in the first minute.

“The reaction to going behind was terrific from the players and we put on a great display after that. If I was offered that now I would take it. However I have to be realistic enough to say that if I was offered a scrappy 1-0 win just now I would take it, as that is the stage of the season we are at.”

Young added: “Undoubtedly Airdrie have improved since then and I would be glad of any win as it moves us four points clear of them.

“Both teams, along with Stranraer, are in a mini-league trying to be the one that is just sitting outside of the top four waiting for a slip, whilst pushing ourselves further away from any issues down below.”

Goalkeeper Ryan Goodfellow is available after concussion however January signing Craig Thomson remains out with a broken bone in his hand and Mark Docherty has a knee issue.
