Dave Mackay or Brian Grant will be named manager of Stirling Albion within the next 48 hours.
The Binos parted company with previous boss Stuart McLaren seven weeks ago and stand-in Martyn Corrigan bowed out after a 3-0 weekend League Two defeat from Forfar Athletic.
With Albion hovering above the relegation area in seventh place the fans’ owned club are eager to make an appointment before the weekend trip to face Elgin City and there are only two names on the shortlist.
Former St Johnstone skipper and 2014 Scottish Cup winner Mackay was forced to quit football in September in the wake of two hip operations and has set his sights set on management.
But he faces competition for the role from former Aberdeen and Hibs player, who has been coaching academy kids at Dundee United.
