Elliott Parish was given the nod to replace Matthews for the clash with the Ibrox side with Sinclair, who played for Montrose on Saturday in their 3-0 win over Peterhead on the bench.
It was Parish’s first start since the League Cup group games.
Captain Liam Gordon was also sidelined.
