Liz McColgan has expressed her surprise that daughter Eilish has missed out on the top level of funding from British Athletics for next season.
It was a stunning summer of success for the Dundee Hawkhill Harrier, whose gold medal Commonwealth Games 10k run captured the hearts of a nation.
Eilish also claimed silver in Birmingham in the 5k, European bronze in the 10,000 metres and posted record-breaking times on the track and road.
A total of 66 athletes have been nominated to receive UK Sport National Lottery support for the coming year.
However, Eilish is in the second tier, 23-strong Podium Potential group.
Liz, a former Olympic silver medallist and world champion, coaches her daughter.

And on Twitter she has said “agree” to two Tweets expressing shock that Eilish isn’t in the top section of athletes.
Like her mother, the 31-year-old is set to make the step-up to running marathons, with London expected to be her first in the spring.
