In her new book A Place Called Home, Cath shares her design inspiration as she gives readers a tour of her Gloucestershire home room by room.
Cath Kidston is known the world over as The Queen of Print.
With a background in interior design and styling, Cath founded her eponymous brand in 1993. In 2017, after stepping down from the Cath Kidston Group, she founded a new solo venture, Joy of Print, a creative design studio specialising in designing print for the interiors and fashion world.
The front hall
Cath has kept the entrance hall very simple with off white walls. A cracker hat hides the bald patch on this portrait.
The living room
The striking feature of the sitting room is the beautiful fireplace. On either side of the chimneypiece hang two Dutch panels and over the fireplace, a bronze branch by the sculptor Dan Chadwick.
The kitchen
Cath wanted the kitchen to be as simple and timeless as possible. Colour is added with things like china and tablecloths – all of which can be changed easily.
First floor landing
A large skylight lights up the first-floor landing and the wall of colourful pictures on the hall stairs.
Castle bedroom
Cath got inspiration for the castle bedroom from a collection of photographs and prints of pink and red rooms. Pinned over the headboard is a printed cotton from Pondicherry.
