Engineers are working to restore power to hundreds of people in Monifieth.
Some areas have already been restored following the power cut which happened on Wednesday morning.
Seaview Primary School was among the properties affected and there was concern it would be closed as a result.
They were also unable to prepare lunches before power was restored and the school opened as normal.
Things slowly got back to normal throughout the morning although many people were still suffering from power going on and off.
Scottish and Southern Energy said 668 customers were affected and they were confident the majority of supplies would be restored by 11am.
Two engineers were on site to repair the fault from 8am.
The fault was affecting the main network.
SSE said it would be keeping Monifieth customers updated throughout the morning.
