There’s no better feeling than helping someone gain confidence and make positive changes in their life. And that’s what drives many people to become Slimming World Consultants.

Many Consultants have been in the shoes of class members – they’ve faced their own weight struggles and continue to put in the work it takes to maintain their goal weights. That means that they understand perfectly what it takes and can offer support, advice and motivation that is useful and relevant.

New Consultant Carol Hill shares her slimming story and invites you all to achieve your goals.

“Dear Slimmers,

I would like to introduce myself. I am Carol Hill from the lovely town of Inverbervie, and fast approaching that ripe age of 60.

Many times over the years I have tried many diets and my weight and shape has gone up and down. After returning from a wonderful trip Down Under and looking at the photos, I was so unhappy with them I burst into tears and thought, “right this has got to get sorted out”.

Again trying myself but giving up easy, I managed to lose 6lbs.

Then at Christmas we discover that my husband has high cholesterol. I decided enough is enough.

We have four grandchildren and my daughter and her wife have been accepted to adopt and I want to be around a long time to enjoy them all.

Compared to a lot of people I didn’t have a lot to lose, but at the end of the day it is how you feel on the inside and I was lacking in self-esteem.

Plucking up the courage (and taking my step-daughter with me) I walked through those Slimming World doors at Gourdon an immediately felt at home.

We received our Food Optimising books, the consultant was so caring and explained everything. Then the most important question: What do you want your target to be? That’s right, I decided what weight I wanted to be. That was the big difference – I wasn’t being told what weight I should be, I was in control.

Nothing is excluded with Slimming World’s Food Optimising plan – no foods are banned. It’s not a diet, it’s transforming your eating habits through Free Food, and it is so liberating knowing that you can relax around food and really enjoy what you eat.

One week in I had lost 1.5lbs. By eight weeks I reached my target of 9 stone, so 9lbs later I went from wearing size 12/14 to size 8/10 and for the first time in about 10 years I wore a bikini on a public beach!

I have now been at target for 12 weeks and still enjoy a glass of wine with my spaghetti bolognaise, we have a cooked breakfast on Sundays and my husband and I still go out for meals and I just look at things a little differently.

Because of my enthusiasm, my son and daughter have both joined Slimming World in Manchester and Trowbridge.

This has made me more determined to stay  as I am and at Target for life  and having been so inspired with Slimming World that when I was given the opportunity to become a Consultant to help others, I couldn’t wait.

So whether its ½ a stone, or 5 stone or more, I know how we can all feel unsure of ourselves, and I would just love to be your consultant who inspires you so if you want to take that scary first step please come along and have a chat.

All members new and old or maybe those who just lost there way, please join me on a Tuesdays at 5.30pm and 7.30pm at Gourdon Hall.

Many thanks,

Carol”
