A teen who ploughed his car into a stationary vehicle, leaving a 14-year-old boy with horrific injuries, is facing jail.
Peter Hutchison tore through Dundee on July 4 last year.
Witnesses saw the 19 year-old driving at “excessive speed” on Dura Street and Blackness Road before he lost control and crashed into a parked car and tree.
There were two passengers in Hutchison’s car.
One — a 14 year-old boy — was left with a ruptured spleen and also had his pelvis broken in two places by the impact.
Dundee Sheriff Court was told that he continues to suffer from pain and stiffness as a result of his injuries.
He spent significant time in hospital and still suffers nightmares because of the incident.
The other passenger, meanwhile, was also said to suffer ill effects that prevented him from sporting activities and attending the gym.
Hutchison, of James Blair Close in Errol, admitted causing serious injury to the two men by driving dangerously and at excessive speed for road conditions and that he lost control, causing his vehicle to collide with a stationary vehicle and a tree.
Sheriff Lorna Drummond told Hutchison he had been guilty of a very serious offence.
She said: “This caused very serious injury to (the teenager) and in my opinion it does justify custody, no matter that you are a first offender.”
The sheriff stayed her hand until obtaining a social work report, deferring sentence until August 29.
Hutchison was released on bail, but banned from driving in the interim.
