A Brechin man has admitted a three-year long stalking campaign against his wife.

Alexander Adam admitted the offence, spanning from July 2019 until October 2022, at Forfar Sheriff Court.

The 45-year-old, listed as being of Montrose Street in Brechin, targeted the woman at another address in the Angus town during this period.

He admitted repeatedly sending excessive messages to her requesting her whereabouts, who she was with and “full details” as well as referring to her in a derogatory manner.

On a date last June, he acted aggressively after an argument and struck a wall.

In August, he attended at the address uninvited and later that month contacted her “in excess” by sending more than 134 messages.

He also phoned her from a bridge, threatened suicide and blamed her for threatening suicide.

In October, he refused to leave the property then grabbed his wife by the arms and pushed her out the door before pushing her on the body.

On the same date, he entered his vehicle and followed her in close proximity.

Fiscal depute Andre Harding explained Alexander’s previous convictions were not analogous.

Reports were ordered and Alexander will be sentenced on May 4.

A man has admitted starting a fire in his bedroom at a Perth nursing home.

Kyle Wilkie set alight a pile of papers on his bedside cabinet at the city’s Arkbrae Home on October 23, last year.

The 23-year-old was helped out into the garden of the Fairies Road facility, while firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze.

Wilkie, now of Bute Drive, appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted a charge of wilful fireraising.

Fiscal depute Gavin Burton said the blaze was contained to the cabinet and the damage caused was no more than £60.

Sheriff Gillian Wade deferred sentence until April 12.

The Fife teenager, who can’t be named due to his age, is charged under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act.

He appeared in private at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court where he entered no plea and was released on bail.

He is expected to appear again next week.

A Dundee fuel thief has been locked up for more than seven months.

Steven Fleming was brought from HMP Perth to Dundee Sheriff Court where he admitted the theft.

On September 2 last year, he stole £75 worth of petrol from the Forfar Road Filling Station, while acting with others.

The 26-year-old, of Whitfield Avenue, was sentenced to seven months and 15 days in prison by Sheriff George Way, on account of his record.

Drug swap tragedy

A man was found dead in a Dunfermline homeless hostel after being supplied with methadone in a drug swap deal.

Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard Mr Ballantyne, who had also been drinking alcohol, was later found lying dead on his bed.

Duncan pled guilty to supplying the methadone, a man-made opioid, to Mr Ballantyne in contravention of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

A sheriff praised the progress the 32-year-old had made, describing him as “one of the bright spots in the criminal justice system”.

A Dundee pensioner has been placed on the sex offenders register after he admitted molested a schoolgirl almost a decade ago.

Thomas Dolan appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court to admit the sexual assault on a date between August 2014 and October 2015.

The 66-year-old placed his had under the girl’s clothing at a property in St Albans Terrace and touched her naked breast.

She was around 14 or 15 at the time.

Sheriff George Way ordered reports to be completed ahead of sentencing on April 20 and placed Dolan, of Baldovan Terrace, on the sex offenders register.
