Angus sex pest walked into wrong home, urinated in bed and abused householders

Persistent offender William Whyte has racked up a further two convictions.

An Angus sex pest walked into a total stranger’s home, asked to have sex with her and wet her 10-year-old daughter’s bed.

Serial menace William Whyte, who is already on the Sex Offenders Register, also told an elderly woman at Arbroath Bus Station that she had a “fat a**e.”

Whyte, 49, was made subject to notification requirements again after admitting both drunken offences at Forfar Sheriff Court.

He will be sentenced on the same day he finds out his punishment for sexually harassing a paramedic tending to him after a fall in a park.

Home invasion

Fiscal depute Bill Kermode said: “The complainer lives at the locus with her 10-year-old daughter.

“At 6.41pm, the witnesses were sitting in the living room watching TV when the accused entered of his own accord through the unlocked door and sat down in the living room.”

He then made lewd and offensive remarks, including asking to have sex with the woman.

The comments were overheard by the woman’s daughter who went and hid in the kitchen in fear.

Mr Kermode said Whyte – who appeared to be “very drunk” – was unknown to the pair.

He said the comments were repeated for some time and although he was told to leave, Whyte believed he was in his own home.

Police were contacted and while the woman waited for their arrival, Whyte made his way to her daughter’s bed.

He got into the child’s bed and prepared to go to sleep, urinating as he did so.

Police arrived at 7.20pm while Whyte was still in the bed.

He told officers: “It’s my house.”

Whyte admitted that on December 28 last year, he communicated indecently at the property in Provost Reid’s Road, Montrose, for the purposes of obtaining sexual gratification or for humiliating, distressing or alarming his victim.

Bus station abuse

In April this year, Whyte went on a foul-mouthed rant at Arbroath bus station.

He sat on a bench at 3.10pm between a female teenager and an elderly woman.

“The accused began shouting and swearing at no-one in particular,” Mr Kermode said.

The elderly lady got up and left and after five minutes, a bus driver in the staff restroom heard Whyte shout “fat a**e.”

Still sitting on the bench, the accused was watched by the driver as he shouted and swore at numerous members of the public, the majority of whom were female.

The driver then heard Whyte again shout “fat a**e” to two females who passed him.

He warned the nuisance he would phone the police, which briefly curtailed the abuse but Whyte began shouting “c***” and “f*** off” and a station employee heard him shout “you do have a fat a**e” to an elderly woman.

Police were contacted and the employee escorted Whyte away.

When he was arrested at 3.45pm, Whyte told officers: “I’ll be pleading not guilty.”

However, in the dock, Whyte pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner on April 20, while he was on bail for two separate matters.

Previous paramedic offence

The bus station abuse happened just two weeks before Whyte admitted telling a paramedic she had a ‘nice a**e’ as she treated him.

Whyte made the lewd comment in February after he drunkenly fell in a Montrose park.

He proceeded to urinate in the park in full view or children and pensioners.

Reports had been ordered in connection with that offence and Whyte – of North Grimsby in Arbroath – is due to be sentenced for it on June 15.

Sheriff Mark Thorley deferred dealing with the new matters until the same day and ordered more reports.

Solicitor Nick Markowski said: “These are all alcohol-related incidents.

“He’s not offended since 2016. There is a flurry of offending.

“He’s turned up. He’s sober.”
