A man has appeared at court accused of committing a number of sex acts at a popular Fife tourist attraction.
Lilko Fotenliev appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday afternoon facing three charges of engaging in sexual activity in a public place at various dates in September and October.
Fotenliev, 47, denies the charges, which allege he approached a number of woman – who cannot be named for legal reasons – at Caiplie Caves in Fife, before committing a sex act in front of them on.
The Bulgarian national, who is working temporarily in the country in the seasonal farm industry, was granted bail subject to standard and special conditions.
Fotenliev is banned from entering the Caiplie Caves while he is on bail, or using the coastal path between Anstruther and Crail.
The accused will also be required to attend an identity parade, with 48 hours’ notice, as part of his bail terms.
Defence solicitor Gary Foulis asked the court for early dates to be set, as Fotenliev had arranged to return to his home in Bulgaria next month.
Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown granted Fotenliev bail subject to the conditions and ordered him to return to court for trial on February 7 next year.
There will be a further intermediate diet on November 9, which Fotenliev will also be required to attend.
A police appeal was launched following reports of public indecency. Officers staged patrols along the coastal path, which is popular with dog walkers.
Detective Constable Barry Crookston from Livingston CID said: “We would like to thank those who came forward with information.
“While none of the woman who witnessed these alleged public indecencies were hurt, they were left understandably alarmed and we want to reassure our communities that crimes of this nature will not be tolerated.”
