A man has been fined for trying to punch a police officer after being refused entry to a pub in Dundee. Wayne Patton, of Grampian Gardens, admitted assaulting a police officer on New Year’s Day when he appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Bell Street. Patton, 46, admitted that on January 1, at an address on the Seagate, he assaulted PC Ryan Marshall and attempted to punch him on the head. The court was told Patton threw the punch after police intervened when he was refused entry to a public house. Sheriff Tom Hughes ordered Patton to pay a fine of £500 for the offence.
