Two men have appeared in court after a Kirkcaldy street was placed on lockdown following reports of a gun.
Emergency services raced to the scene on Valley Gardens in Templehall at around 5.40pm on Tuesday.
David Hough and Alan Steele both appeared in private at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Wednesday afternoon.
The 37-year-old and 27-year-old are both charged with possessing a firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence.
Hough, of East Kilbride, is also charged with vandalism and two counts of threatening and abusive behaviour. He made no plea and was remanded in custody.
Steele, of Glasgow, also faces a threatening and abusive behaviour charge.
He made no plea and was released on bail.
Both men are expected to reappear at the court at a later date.
Worried residents looked on as specialist officers including armed police and dog handlers descended on the quiet street.
Teams of officers were scene combing through undergrowth and neighbouring gardens in the hours that followed as a heavy presence remained on the scene.
