The 39-year-old also launched a savage attack on a girl, 8, who was in the flat at the time. She survived the incident.
Morris had barricaded the front door of the Coupar Angus flat early and stabbed his victims before inflicting wounds on himself and jumping from the third floor window on to a car below in an apparent attempt to end his life.
At the High Court in Aberdeen on Tuesday, Lord Frank Mulholland handed Morris a sentence of 16 years backdated to November 22 2018.
His sentence was reduced from 20 years due to his early guilty plea.
