Thieves have made off with a number of golf buggies and off-road gator vehicles after a Dundee club was targeted over the weekend.
The criminals, who broken into Caird Park Golf Course on Friday night, also stole various power tools and gardening equipment..
Officers, who have launched a public appeal to help trace the stolen items, say several buildings on the premises were broken into during the incident.
It is the latest in a string of attacks against the golf club, which was “decimated” by vandals who stole equipment worth £48,000 last month.
And in September, two golf buggies were stolen from its onsite storage container.
Club caption says recent spate of thefts has been ‘horrific’
Caird Park Golf Club captain, Ian Gordon, said: “The break in on Friday night was part of the council’s area but we had another attempted break-in on Saturday night.
“We’ve had break-ins and vandalism over the years but the last two or three months have been horrific – it’s been really bad.
“We had two buggies stolen about two months ago and then the council got stuff stolen again this weekend.
“We don’t leave anything out on the course now, we used to leave our buggie shed open all day for people to go in and out and now we can’t for fear they’re going to get nicked.
“Last weekend we also had some more damage to the club, with tyre markings on the fairway.
“It’s getting to the stage where members of the club are being put off by the damage.
“At this time of year you can’t really restore the grass.”
Police appeal for public’s help to find vehicles stolen from gold club
Constable Matthew Boath said: “We are appealing for anyone with information, or if you become aware of anyone trying to sell such vehicles or items, to please get in touch.
“You can call police on 101, quoting incident 0803 of 12 November.
“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
A spokesperson for Dundee Leisure and Culture said: “As this is now a matter for Police Scotland, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further at this time.”
