A property boss behind plans to turn a famous Dundee pub into plush flats said he is delighted by how the project is progressing.
Sinatra’s Bar, on King Street, was a popular haunt for late night revellers for almost three decades.
The club closed in 2011 and plans were approved in 2016 to turn the club into 12 high-end flats. Five of the properties have now been sold off with another reserved.
Developer Lee Chadwick, from West One Properties, believes the revamped homes can tie in with Dundee’s £1 billion Waterfront development.
Mr Chadwick revealed developers may install a plaque at the front of the development to mark the legacy of Sinatra’s.
The property director described turning the derelict building into a dozen high-end properties as “rewarding”.
He said: “Sinatra’s was part of Dundee’s history and hopefully these flats can be part of its future.
“People coming in always get a bit of nostalgia. We might put a small plaque on to show how the place used to be.
“It’s quite rewarding seeing a old derelict building become high-end luxury flats.
“King Street and the Cowgate are two of Dundee’s oldest streets, but this is a kind of forgotten part of town.
“More encouragement should be given to developers to do these sort of things.”
Mr Chadwick revealed he has already had numerous enquiries from people interested in the properties.
He said: “This whole area is marked for regeneration.
“There are plans for a multiplex at the Wellgate, the Waterfront is within walking distance and the V&A is five minutes away.
“They would make good accommodation for the universities or for tourism coming into Dundee.
“It’s been a challenge, but these will be nice homes for someone to live in.”
Sinatra’s closed for the last time in April 2011.
The popular venue was opened by Ian Hindmarch, a motor trader, and at one point was one of the biggest pubs in Dundee.
