Ice sensors are to be installed on the approach to the Kincardine Bridge this week.
The A985 will be closed between the bridge and Longannet roundabout from 8pm on Tuesday until 6am on Wednesday to allow the work to be carried out.
Traffic counting equipment will also be put in place and road markings renewed following last month’s resurfacing works.
The work will take three nights and will also involve overnight closures on Wednesday and Thursday.
A diversion route will be signposted between the Clackmannanshire Bridge and Cairneyhill roundabout via the A876 and A977, adding an extra five minutes, or 3.7 miles, to affected journeys.
Local access will be maintained, with road users escorted through the site when it is safe.
Access for emergency vehicles will also be maintained.
Tommy Deans, Bear Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “These finishing works will enhance the safety of motorists using this section of the A985.
“Overnight road closures are essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption.
“We thank motorists in advance for their patience and encourage them to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
