Man, 46, dies in A92 crash between Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes

The road between the Bankhead and Redhouse roundabouts was closed for several hours.

A 46-year-old man has died following a two-car crash on the A92 between Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes.

Emergency services were called to the Thornton by-pass at around 2.30pm on Monday.

Two people were taken to hospital while the road between the Bankhead and Redhouse roundabouts was closed for several hours.

Long tailbacks were reported as the road did not fully reopen until 12 hours after the crash.

Police have since confirmed a 46-year-old man, the driver of one of the vehicles, died at the scene.

Appeal for footage of A92 crash

Sergeant Colin Morrison said in a statement: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.

“Our investigation is continuing and I would urge any witnesses of the crash to contact us as soon as possible.

“We are aware dash-cam footage was posted online locally and I would ask the person with the footage, or any other drivers with footage of the incident, to contact us as soon as possible.

“The information you hold will assist with our investigation into the circumstances of this collision.”
