Woman killed in house fire in Fife

A 55-year-old woman has died after a house fire in the Fife village of Saline.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 10.45pm on Friday.

Three fire appliances were sent out to tackle the blaze in the two storey building, which was “well alight” when crews turned up.

Police Scotland confirmed the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokesman said: “An investigation into the cause of the fire has commenced and is at an early stage.”

Fire crews were still at the scene on Saturday afternoon.
