A £5,000 reward has been offered for information about the terrifying robbery of a 76-year-old woman in Fife.

The pensioner was threatened and restrained in her own home by a man who stole a number of items before making off.

The incident happened in Crossford on Friday May 4.

CCTV images of a man Police Scotland believe could assist them with their inquiries have been made available.

He is described as 5ft 8in tall and of medium build with short, light hair.

He spoke with an accent that was possibly Eastern European.

He is believed to have links to Greenock and the Clackmannanshire area.

National charity Crimestoppers has put up the reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the attack.

Scotland national manager Angela Parker said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and what she went through is something I cannot even begin to imagine.

“The man responsible is clearly someone who does not care who he hurts, how much suffering he inflicts, regardless of whether that person is vulnerable or not.

“Our charity guarantees that everyone who contacts us stays 100% anonymous, always.

“We’ve kept that promise for our 30-year history.

“No-one will know you contacted us and it could be your information that makes the difference so please contact us and be an ambassador for your community.”

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Information passed directly to the police will not qualify for the reward.
