Teenage boy hurt in collision with car in Kirkcaldy

A teenage boy has been struck by a car on a busy road in Kirkcaldy.

The 16-year-old was hurt in the incident on Dunnikier Way at around 3.15pm.

Paramedics were at the scene, on the dual carriageway near Asda, but the extent of the boy’s injuries are not yet known.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We are at a road traffic collision involving a 16-year-old pedestrian.

“An ambulance is in attendance.”

Witnesses claimed it was an unmarked police car which struck the boy, but the force has yet to confirm that was the case.

One witness said two police officers leapt from the vehicle, a Vauxhall Corsa, to attend to the boy.

Scott Blaney said: “Fortunately, he [the driver] was slowing down for the roundabout or it could have been much more serious.

“Full praise to the policeman and the police woman.

“They were out the car like darts to help him.”
