Tragedy was only narrowly avoided after thugs threw an object at a moving car travelling on Dundee’s Kingsway.
No-one was injured, but Police Scotland said the incident could have had very serious consequences for the driver and other road users.
Officers are now hunting those responsible and have issued an urgent appeal for witness to help track them down.
The incident took place near to the roundabout at the junction Kingsway West and Coupar Angus Road on Saturday evening.
An object was thrown at a white Volkswagen Polo car, denting the rear side passenger door of the moving vehicle.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “On this occasion no-one was injured, but the driver was alarmed by the incident.
“Throwing any item at a moving vehicle is dangerous and can have very serious implications for all road users.”
