A “full-scale search” for a man last seen near the Fife side of the Tay Road Bridge has been called off as he was “traced elsewhere”.
Broughty Ferry lifeboat and police were called to the area at about 5.30am after concerns were raised for a man.
It is believed the man had already been reported as missing.
Coastguard officers were seen preparing to enter the water as part of the operation.
A spokesman for the force said: “Police sought the assistance of HM Coastguard, the Broughty “Ferry lifeboat teams and the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“A full-scale search of the area was launched.”
But a police spokeswoman confirmed at about 10am that the man had been “traced elsewhere” and that the search was called off as a result.
