Two people have been arrested following a major drugs raid at a property in Cardenden.
A man aged 37 and a woman aged 49 have been arrested and charged in connection with offences under the Misuse of drugs Act.
Police Scotland say a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
In all, five police vehicles as well as a forensics team and a specialist ambulance crew descended on a top floor property in Dundonald Park shortly after 9am on Friday morning.
A specialist national risk ambulance – which included paramedics specially trained to deal with chemical, biological, nuclear or radiological incidents in hazardous environments – was also in attendance.
The raid follows a spate of police activity witnessed in Dundonald Park by residents in recent months.
Police were seen removing the elderly occupant of the lower property who was then cared for by a neighbour whilst officers continued with their investigation.
Police ‘appeared out of nowhere’
A number of white-suited officers could clearly be seen through the kitchen window of the upper property for most of the day as they continued with their investigation of the flat.
One resident, who asked not to be named, said a large police presence “appeared out of nowhere” before entering the upstairs flat.
They added: “Very quickly there was a lot of police officers in the street who immediately entered the property.
“I short time later I saw two individuals, a man and a woman being taken away.”
Forensics officers – some wearing white-suits, while others in green full body haz-mat outfits – continued to enter and leave the property for most to the day whilst a heavy police presence remained in the street.
Numerous items, including several police evidence bag, boxes and plastic containers, were also removed from the property by forensic officers.
One onlooker said the police activity was the latest in a spate of incidents at the property in the last 12 months.
They added: “At first I just thought it was another raid but with the arrival of the forensic officers with all the protective clothing on, it instantly became apparent this was much more involved than anything that has gone on in this street in recent months.”
