A Fife family has issued a desperate appeal for the safe return of their beloved dog.
The search for Hungarian vizsla Roscoe has spread to the four corners of the UK but, three months after he went missing, there is still no sign of the beloved pet.
Tracey McConnell-Wood, partner David Kattenhorn and children Angus, 17, and Beth, 15, fear he may have perished in the countryside or even been stolen.
But they have continued the hunt for the youthful 11-year-old who has been part of the family since he was five.
Roscoe went missing on September 26 as he returned from a walk with David in their home town of Newburgh, Fife.
Tracey was away for the day and believes he may have run off trying to find her.
She said: “It’s very, very out of character for him to run off but he is very much a pack animal and one of his pack was missing.”
With the help of family, friends and fellow villagers, a massive search was launched of the Newburgh area.
It spread to other parts of Fife, including Ladybank where a couple of people reported seeing a dog matching Roscoe’s description near the railway station.
Thanks to a widely shared appeal on Facebook, people reported dogs they thought might be Roscoe in places including Perth, Glasgow and as far south as Surrey.
When a vizsla was found in Wales, the family thought it must be Roscoe but sadly their hopes were dashed.
Tracey said she was overwhelmed at the lengths people had gone to help in the search for Roscoe and appealed to them to keep looking out for him.
She said: “Even if he has been found dead, please let us know. It is the not knowing that is the hardest part.
“He has left a massive gap in our home, he is such a big character.
“It would be so wonderful to have him home, to know he is safe and can grow old being cared for at home.”
Roscoe is neutered, has some lumps and a balding tail and was wearing an EZYDOG collar.
