A 33-year-old man required “significant treatment” to facial injuries after he was attacked in Burntisland.
The man sustained serious injuries after being beaten by a group of male and female youths on Dick Crescent on Friday night.
He was taken to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, and released after treatment.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the serious assault, which they said happened at around 10pm.
They would particularly like to speak to anyone who filmed the attack on their phone.
Detective Sergeant Samantha Davidson of Kirkcaldy CID said: “This man sustained serious facial injuries which have required significant treatment.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who was in the Dick Crescent area on the evening of Friday May 26.
“We are particularly eager to speak to persons who may have recorded the incident on mobile devies.”
