A man and boy have been charged in connection with a spate of raids with motorbikes and biking gear stolen from addresses across Fife and further afield.

Six properties were targeted in Cupar and Cardenden and in East and West Lothian and motocross motorcycles and biking clothes were taken.

Police said officers searched two addresses in Dalkeith on Thursday morning and seized motocross gear.

Inquiries were to be conducted to establish whether the items recovered were stolen.

The 18-year-old and 16-year-old are to appear in Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday.

Constable Craig Dilworth from the community investigation unit in Musselburgh, said: “As part of this investigation we liaised closely with members of the motocross community who provided valuable information and expert insight relating to VIN (vehicle identification number) locations, documentation and the sale and movement of bikes.

“We would like to thank those who assisted with our inquiries, which ultimately resulted in various pieces of evidence discovered from the addresses in Dalkeith.

“Tackling acquisitive crime remains one of our top priorities and whenever such offences are reported to us we will conduct a thorough investigation to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.”

The items were stolen between November last year and September 18.
