Police swooped on Dunfermline Jobcentre following the accidental activation of an alarm.
A cordon was thrown up around the premises in Foundry Street when the incident occurred at 10.20am on Friday.
It was taken down when it was established there was no danger.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police in Fife were called at around 10.20am on Friday, March 8, to a premises on Foundry Street in Dunfermline after an alarm was activated, which has now been confirmed as accidental.
“There is no risk to the public and no further police action is required.”
