The family of a missing Perth pastor say they are “holding up” despite police stating all local efforts to trace him are now exhausted.
Chief Inspector Maggie Pettigrew, police area commander for Perth and Kinross, stressed officers are still appealing for information on the whereabouts of Peter Edwards, who was last seen getting off a bus in Barclay Street, Stonehaven, at around 3.20pm on November 1.
Mr Edwards, of Scone, an associate pastor at the Perth Christian Fellowship, had previously been seen boarding the same bus in Aberdeen at 2pm the same day. Before that he was spotted on CCTV getting off a number seven bus in Perth’s Glasgow Road at 7.43am that morning.
His disappearance sparked a major police investigation and church congregations in Stonehaven have conducted their own searches.
Formerly of New York, Mr Edwards, 65, moved to Scotland around 30 years ago.
Mervyn Milne, senior pastor of the Perth Christian Fellowship, said the church had not received any notification from police concerning any leads in the search for Mr Edwards, but emphasised prayers are still being made for him on a regular basis.
“We have not had any contact from the police – they are just doing what they do – but we will keep praying for Peter,” he said.
“This is obviously a private matter for Peter’s family but they are holding up.”
He continued: “There’s been no change in the search for Peter but we still include him in our prayer sessions and our thoughts are very much with him.”
Ms Pettigrew commented: “Mr Edwards is still missing and all police efforts locally are exhausted. However, we would still appeal for anyone who has seen him or has any information to come forward.”
Mr Edwards is described as being 5ft 9ins tall, balding, with a grey beard and sideburns. He speaks with an American accent.
He was last seen wearing gold-rimmed glasses, a long-sleeved grey shirt, a black tank top jumper, a tie, grey trousers and black leather shoes.
